Chronicle of Higher Education Access Instructions

The Chronicle of Higher Education is a weekly news magazine that reports on higher education topics.  Academic staff and faculty read it to keep informed of initiatives and issues in higher education.

Butler Libraries has an online subscription to the news magazine which can be accessed via this direct link:  https://ezproxy.butler.edu/login?url=http://chronicle.com or through the Butler Libraries’ website via the catalog, Journals A-Z link, or the alphabetical Databases listing.

There is also an iPad app that renders The Chronicle in its print format.  To access the magazine this way:

  1. Go to The Chronicle site: https://ezproxy.butler.edu/login?url=http://chronicle.com

  2. In the upper right-hand corner, click on Log In.

  3. On the My Account page, click on Create a Free Account.

  4. Submit the appropriate information being requested-you must use your Butler email address.  You will also be required to create a password.  This is not your Butler network account password, so it can be whatever you want it to be.

  5. Once you have created your free account, download The Chronicle of Higher Education app from the App Store onto your iPad.

  6. You will be required to login using your free account credentials (Butler email and the password you entered).

  7. The Chronicle will appear in your Newsstand on the iPad.  You will be able to download editions to your iPad, and when finished, archive them so they are removed from your iPad. (If you archive an edition, you can also easily re-download at a later date, if you wish.  Archiving read editions will free up space).
