The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.  The U.S. Federal Government assigns codes to classify industries for data collection and reporting purposes.  Links to sources that help identify NAICS codes can be found in the Industry LibGuide The NAICS Association also has helpful information.
