There are two groups of student employees at Irwin Library: those in the Information Commons program and those in our Access Services department.
The Information Commons program is a partnership between the Libraries and the Center for Academic Technology. Our student employees work in both locations on campus and are cross-trained in research, circulation, and technology skills. These are the students working the service desk at Irwin Library. Since it is a public-facing job, we ask our students to dress professionally and be completely engaged when working. You can learn more about this program at our website.
The Access Services department student group handles behind-the-scenes tasks such as shelving, processing, and shifting.
Openings for all positions, whenever available, are posted through the Internship and Career Services (ICS) posting service (formerly BLUE, now Handshake). The ICS office is able to assist you with questions about this program, or with other services such as resume review.
