​All library users should follow current Butler University and library protocols.

Visitors, community members, alumni, and the general public are generally welcome to enter Irwin Library during normal operating hours prior to 10 pm Visitors are welcome to:

  • Browse the book collection and read within the library
  • Use library public spaces for personal study (Excluded are study rooms, which are limited to current Butler students, and the two collaborative work spaces, which are for current Butler students, faculty and staff). 
  • Log into our guest wireless or ask an Information Commons staff member to assist in logging you onto a tech quad computer on the first floor
  • Make free scans of materials

Additional services are available at a fee:

  • If they are eligible, there is a fee and an application for a special borrowers card to grant circulation privileges.

  • A small number of copies can be made for 25 cents per page, payable electronically.

All library patrons are expected to adhere to library policies and Code of Conduct.

The doors to Irwin Library lock at 10 PM. To gain access to the building after this time, an active Butler ID is required.
