Q. Can Butler students check out materials from local public libraries?

Yes. Butler students, faculty, and staff may borrow from institutions affiliated with the PALNI and ALI networks by presenting their Butler University ID cards. To borrow from ALI institutions, Butler users will also need an ALI card, which can be acquired at either the Information Commons desk at Irwin Library or the Science Library circulation desk.

Butler University students are also eligible for a temporary library card at IndyPL. Students may complete an application at any of IndyPL's 23 branch locations and must provide a photo ID and proof of residency.

Proof of residency may include:

• Mail postmarked within the last 30 days
• Current lease or checkbook with your address
• Butler University course schedule with address
• Any official Butler University document with your address
