Copying (aka "ripping") an entire DVD and uploading the content to Butler's streaming server is prohibited. The only way this would be allowable is if you have written permission from the publisher and you share your proof of permission with the Center for Academic Technology.

This having been noted, you can copy small portions that you incorporate into educationally-related projects. See the below links for more information.

You also have these options:

  1. Show a legally acquired copy of the DVD in class
  2. Place a legally acquired copy of the DVD on course reserve at the Irwin Library Information Commons Desk.

If Irwin or the Science Library does not have the copy or copies you need, please contact your subject liasion and work with them to acquire it.

The library Copyright LibGuide includes sections about classroom, online, basics, fair use, and permissions.
